This Warning Event is part of some file Actions (e.g., copy, move, rename files).
Warning · Prevent overwrite…
Overview
Automation Workshop may display this warning event when file operations—such as copy, move, or rename—are prevented due to configured overwrite or rename settings.
This situation occurs when source files are ready to be processed, but the operation is blocked because destination files with the same name already exist, and overwriting is not allowed.
In some cases, renaming rules (masks) may also result in duplicate destination names, and if overwriting is disabled or not permitted by the selected overwrite settings, the files will not be processed.
Event examples
See some examples of the Prevent overwrite Event messages:
- Task "Daily invoicing" Action "Copy File" overwrite options prevent copying over 7 matching destination files.
- Action "Copy File" overwrite options prevent copying over 1 matching destination file.
- Overwrite options prevent moving over 3 matching destination files.
- Overwrite options prevent moving over 1 matching destination file.
- Rename options prevent using 2 existing destination names.
Solution
To resolve these warnings and ensure files are processed as expected, review and adjust the overwrite or rename settings in the affected Action.
If using dynamic destination filename masks and wildcards, ensure any naming patterns produce unique destination filenames to avoid conflicts where multiple files would be renamed to the same name.
