"Could not move file"

Overview

The error indicates that Move File Action has failed to move particular file from source to destination folder.

Cause

Some possible causes are—Source or destination folder name or path contains characters that are not allowed in folder name; File that is specified to be moved does not exist in source path; The user account that executes Automation Workshop has no permission to read or write files in source or destination path; Specified local or network destination disk is not accessible or is read only; Destination disk is full.

Event example

See an example of the Could not move file Event message:

  • Task "Customer Data Update" Action "Move File" could not move file "c:\data\*.xml". Problem with path: "c:\data\prepare\". Access is denied. [os:5; aw:19]

Solution

As a workaround, enable Advanced fallback options checkbox, and in the Error properties uncheck the 0 files affected checkbox.

Verify whether specified path or folder name does not contain characters that are not allowed in folder name. Check whether a file with specified name is present in source path.

Login with administrator account to set appropriate permissions. To set permissions, open Security tab in specified folder properties, choose user account on which Automation Workshop is executed and mark necessary checkboxes.

Verify if destination drive and location is accessible and is not read only. Check if the destination disk has enough free space.
