Overview
The error message Failed retrieving app info indicates that the App Information Action has failed to locate the specified application or background process, or it is not currently running.
Event examples
See some examples of the Failed on App info Event messages:
- Task "Check System" Action "App Information" failed on "dwm.exe". Access is denied. [os:5; aw:68]
- Action "App Information" failed on "nosql-custom.exe". The system cannot find the file specified. [os:2; aw:7]
- Failed on "MySQL.exe". The parameter is incorrect. [os:87; aw:44]
Solution
Make sure that the specified program is running. You can use the If App or Wait for App Action before executing the App Information Action, to ensure that the app is started.
The Access is denied error message is shown and logged when the specified Run As user (or SYSTEM user) does not have the necessary privileges to retrieve information on running processes in Windows.
Syntax reminder
The App Information Action may encounter a "syntax" error when it is attempting to locate a process while no input is provided for the App name or executable.
If you are using dynamic variables, it is possible that the variable is empty. An example of the actual error message:
- The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. [os:123; aw:36]
