Compute File Checksum

Automation Workshop includes the Compute File Checksum Action that calculates file hashes in the most popular formats, such as SHA-256, MD5, CRC32, and more. Hashes or checksums are used to verify file integrity and to ensure that file data has not been modified.

Features & highlights

  • It supports the most popular cryptographic hash checksum formats: SHA-512, SHA-384, SHA-256, SHA-224, SHA-1, MD5, and CRC32.
  • Very fast checksum computing.
  • It can process files of virtually unlimited size.
  • It generates checksums both in upper and lower case.

Usage examples

  • Used together with the List Files and For Each Actions, allows to check file hashes and checksums for a large number of files in an automated manner.
  • Automatically calculate a hash value (for instance, a SHA-512 string) of a file right after it was created or modified—by using the File & Folder Watcher Trigger.
  • A file hash or checksum can be calculated automatically after a file is downloaded from the remote FTP server or Amazon S3 file storage to ensure its integrity.

Documentation

  • File · Provide a file whose checksum to calculate and choose a cryptographic hash algorithm.
  • Options · Set the Action state and custom display name, define automated error workarounds, and enable an option to log only critical errors.

Interconnect

  • Compute File Checksum integration—Variables (manipulate data dynamically within a workflow) and Events (recorded entries that detail the activity within the system).
  • Effortlessly streamline your automation processes by visually connecting your workflow using Variable Wizard—a powerful tool to access all 1,000+ variables—system, network, Triggers, Actions, globals, web, and much more…
  • Moreover, not only utilize Compute File Checksum variables, but also seamlessly integrate them with a diverse array of other file and folder variables from local disks, mapped drives, network shares, and remote servers—FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, Amazon S3, and more…
